Teaching, Mentoring & Education
Microregistrar.com was started in 2012 as my study notes that I can access anywhere. I continued to maintain this website as many people found it useful, and there was so little guidance available for the FRCPath Microbiology examination. In 2022, I started working on a special project – a moodle only for FRCPath Microbiology. The aim was to provide a site where a trainee can find >80% of what is needed for the exam. It contains materials specifically written with the examination in mind, guidance, MCQs, part 2-style questions, and a standing mock examination. This is a resource valued by most of its users (>500 over the years) from >29 countries. This is supported by an active WhatsApp group.
I am committed to supporting the next generation of microbiologists through structured mentoring and digital education resources. Through Microregistrar.com, microregistrar.moodlecloud.com and MicroQuora, I provide exam-focused learning materials, practice questions, Mock exams and study guides for FRCPath Part 1 and Part 2 candidates. My teaching interests include antimicrobial resistance, infection prevention, diagnostic microbiology, and the application of AI tools in medical education.
My other projects and interests
I am a keen follower of technology and recent developments in AI/ML and LLMs. I also trained in clinical safety. I am involved in collaborative projects in the field of LLM as a part of ESCMID’s ESGAID study group on generative AI.
I am an avid user of LLMs and particularly interested in user-side education, optimisation, and safety, especially in high-stakes environments such as clinical medicine.
In microbiology, my current projects are improving the pre-analytical stage of blood culture and applying data-driven approaches to the empirical treatment of patients.
