Full immunity takes up to one week to develop after the second dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Standard schedule<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Rapid schedule<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>1st dose at day 0<br>2nd dose at day 28<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>1st dose at day 0<br>2nd dose at day 7<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><strong>1st dose at day 0<br>2nd dose on day 28<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Booster dose<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Age group<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>First booster<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Second booster<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>2 months \u2013 18 years<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>A booster dose at 12 months should be considered for those at continued \/ further risk.<\/strong><\/td><td>No long-term seroprotection data beyond two years after the first booster<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>18 years \u2013 64 years<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Same as 2m \u2013 18 years<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>A second booster dose (4th dose) should be offered at 10 years to those who remain at risk<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>&gt;65 years<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Booster dose at 12 months should be considered for those at continued \/ further risk.<\/strong><\/td><td>The length of protection following a booster dose<br>(3rd dose) is not known.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who should be immunised?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>JE vaccine is recommended for those going to reside in an area where JE is endemic or epidemic.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Staying for a month or longer<\/strong><\/td><td>Travellers to South and South-East Asia and the Far East should be immunised if staying for a month or longer in endemic areas during the transmission season, especially if travel will include rural areas.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Staying for a shorter duration<\/strong><\/td><td>Should be immunised if the risk is considered sufficient. For example, those spending a short period of time in rice fields (where the mosquito vector breeds) or close to pig farming.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mention consulting http:\/\/travelhealthpro.org.uk\/, www.nathnac.org and www.travax.nhs.uk.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>2<strong>. Laboratory workers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immunisation is recommended for all research laboratory staff who have potential exposure<br>to the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contraindication and precaution<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contraindication: A confirmed anaphylactic or serious systemic reaction to a previous dose of the IXIARO\u00ae vaccine or its component(s) (e.g. protamine sulfate).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Precaution: Pregnancy and breastfeeding; a risk assessment should be done.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adverse effect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pain, tenderness, erythema, hardening, swelling and itching at the injection site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Influenza-like illness, fever, headache, fatigue and myalgia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vaccine Inactivated vaccine (IXIARO\u00ae), NO live virus.Adjuvant: Aluminium hydroxide (improves immunogenicity).Storage: +2\u00b0C to +8\u00b0C and protected from light.
